The general system of counting CEO pay includes multi-year stock awards, in their entirety, in the year they are issued, not when they vest. This overstates CEO pay as the Dara Khosrowshahi move to Uber shows, as he'll not get some portion of what is listed as his 2015 pay at Expedia.
