Sorry, Sake: This Plum Wine Could Be Japan's Next Big Drink Export

Japanese plum wine, the sweet and tart, umeshu, is the next big thing in Japanese drinks. According to Japan’s National Tax Agency (NTA), liqueur exports, which are primarily umeshu, more than doubled from 1.84 billion yen ($18 million) to 4.21 billion ($38 million) between 2011 and 2016.
