Growing up in autocratic Zaire, Bodys Isek Kingelez saw plenty of room for improvement. The architectural models he made in response – currently on view at MoMA – are truly astonishing: masterful sculptures that express utopian ideals through a mix of numinous beauty and gritty resourcefulness.
