In 1967, Herb Kelleher had the idea to start an airline. In 1971, Southwest Airlines officially took off (pun intended) with just three planes. By 1973, the airline turned a profit, and for 45 years straight the airline has remained profitable. This year, they’re poised to make it 46 years.
