Houston Matters In A Way Most Other Cities Don't

As Irma approaches, I find my mind wandering to the relative importance of Miami, New Orleans and Houston, all of which have been hammered by late-August hurricanes. I love Miami, my home. I love New Orleans, too. But the city that matters the most to the nation's well-being is Houston.
