Steve Jobs's Reality Distortion Field allowed him to fake it, until he made it. And by make it, I mean build a great product and make a profit. With the Model 3 launch, Elon Musk's Tesla has a chance to prove he's earned the Steve Jobs Professorship of Reality Distortion. He'll probably fail.
